This October & November, 135 branches across the Brooklyn Public Library, New York Public Library, and Queens Public Library systems competed in the first-ever citywide book display contest, creating colorful and dynamic displays around the theme of Arts & Culture to help re-introduce New Yorkers to Culture Pass.
More than 4,300 patrons cast votes for their favorite branches, and the 12 favorites from each system were then sent to a jury of artists, authors, and cultural leaders, who convened virtually on Friday, November 19th to select a winner and runner-up from each system. One grand prize citywide winner was then selected from the three systemwide winners.
Below are the winners and finalists from all three library systems. Congratulations to all who competed!
Citywide Grand Prize Winner: Hudson Park, NYPL
Culture Pass allows New Yorkers to peek inside all that NYC has to offer! Look through the window of our display to see a rotating diorama featuring miniature scenes from MoMA, the New York Botanical Garden, the American Museum of Natural History, and Kings Theatre. The display highlights books that feature the hidden treasures of NYC.
